Securing Land Rights for All - Strengthening Partnerships

Global Land Tool Network Partners Meeting, 15 & 16 November 2011, UNON, Nairobi, Kenya

The fourth GLTN Partners Meeting as convened by UN-HABITAT in Nairobi, Kenya on 15 & 16 November 2011 and was followed by a further two days of what is known as “Learning Exchange”. The meeting had a theme “Strengthening Partnerships: Sustaining a Paradigm Shift towards designing, developing and implementing pro-poor land tools and approaches”. The 45 Partners within the Network was challenged to address land issues at global, regional and country level in the context of addressing poverty and sustainability. UN-HABITAT’s role in addressing the challenges on urbanization was emphasized in the Executive Director’s opening address, particularly in improving access to land and housing.

FIG participated in the meeting and was retained on the International Advisory Board for another two-year term as a representative of the Professional Clusters. This cluster, in addition to FIG, comprises-
