Surveying has been shaping our world from time immemorial. It is, therefore, our collective responsibility as present age surveyors to help make our world sustainable for future prospects. The efforts of the previous generation laid the foundation by leading the creation and adoption of modern technologies that are available at the disposal of young surveyors today. These technologies have become a pillar for sustainable surveying practices, better positioning surveyors to serve their communities.

However, despite all these efforts, our world is still at a great risk from both natural and artificial events. Young surveyors as the future of the profession and this world have a responsibility and a role to play in reengineering our ideology, as well as redefining and restoring our world. It is the Young Surveyor’s responsibility to appreciate the present while preserving tomorrow. The 8th Young Surveyor’s Conference provides an opportunity for young surveyors from around the world to come together to discuss the role of surveying in shaping the past, present, and future of our world.

The conference will draw from the present societal challenges of climate change, and it’s impacts, social injustices while drawing light to the importance of surveying in sustainable development and addressing these challenges. To preserve the tomorrow of both the profession and our world, young surveyors need to acknowledge their role in safeguarding the environment, maintaining professional standards while promoting technological advancements.

From this experience, young surveyors will gain a holistic perspective drawn from the wisdom of the past, the tools of the present and the balancing responsibility of a sustainable profession and world. As the conference will be a forerunner for the Working Week, it is also an opportunity to learn about the latest trends and technologies in the industry from our manufacturers and exhibitors, and to network with both the young and seasoned surveyors.

All young surveyors are strongly encouraged to attend the 8th Young Surveyors Conference in Accra, Ghana under the theme "Our World: Then, Now, Tomorrow." It would be a valuable opportunity to learn, network, develop your professional skills, and contribute towards shaping the tomorrow of our profession and world.
