REFERENCE FRAMES IN PRACTICE

Date: Saturday 10 - Sunday 11 September (morning) 2022

The Technical Seminar on Reference Frames in Practice will be held in Warsaw on 10-11 September 2022. The main focus is on reference frames in general with a specific focus on UN initiatives, global and regional frames as well selected national case studies.  A  half-day International GNSS Service (IGS) Training will also be completed.  Attendees can familiarize themselves with the training by reviewing videos at https://igs.org/tour-de-ligs-presentations

FIG Commission 5 is organizing this Seminar, in conjunction with the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), the United Nations International Committee on GNSS (UN ICG), UN Global Geospatial Information Management Subcommittee on Geodesy and the Association of Polish Surveyors. The seminar will be held in DoubleTree Hotel & Conference Centre Warsaw, Skalnicowa 21, 04-797, Warsaw, Poland. Limited funds are available for participants from developing countries to travel to the Seminar. A future notice will provide further information on eligibility and application for this aid.

ICG Funding for the seminar

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UN-OOSA) International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (ICG) are kindly providing financial assistance for eligible participants, with preference given to participants from developing countries. Financial assistance will only cover the purchase of airline or train tickets and up to two nights of lodging. These will be purchased on behalf of the recipients. Additionally, the RFIP fee will be waived. No other costs will be covered.

The organisers will recommend a list to the UN-OOSA approving and funding authority. Please send your application to Kevin Ahlgren (kevin.ahlgren[at]noaa.gov) and Dan Roman (dan.roman[at]noaa.gov) as soon as possible, but not later than 15 July 2022. In your application please provide a business case as to why you should be given ICG financial assistance as well as an estimate of the amount of assistance (cost of flight tickets) you are seeking. Note your preferred departure city and date. The seminar starts on Saturday, 09 September, morning and ends on Sunday, 10 September. Most travellers would arrive on Friday night and depart on Sunday.

Also note that if you intend to stay for the FIG 2022 Congress, you will be responsible for all costs associated including registration, lodging, per diem etc. If you do choose to participate in the FIG Congress, your return date could be after the Congress ends.
